DRS Refrigerator Purchasing Program

The DRS Refrigerator Purchasing Program has ended. If you have any questions about the program please contact the Division of Research Safety at drs@illinois.edu.

The Division of Research Safety is sponsoring a refrigerator purchasing program for laboratories on campus. The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) requires that spark-free refrigerators/freezers that are specifically rated for flammables be used if cold storage is necessary. DRS will cover 75% of the cost of the unit (prices based on size and cost through iBuy).

All requests will be reviewed by DRS. A visit to the laboratory may be required before approved.

Eligibility

Those who participate in the annual Lab Audit Program, have flammable materials that require cold storage, and demonstrate good chemical management (inventory, disposal, and purchasing).

Applicant Requirements

Must be designated as a Principal Investigator (PI) with laboratory space in the DRS database or is submitting on behalf of a PI.
